Spring Landscape Checklist

April 24, 2016

There's nothing quite like Spring in the Pacific Northwest to brighten your mood after an extra rainy winter.  With the warmer weather and sunny days, landscapes can quickly be in need of some attention. Here are a few tips to add to your Spring landscape checklist.

LAWN CARE

Hopefully, your landscaping is set up to manage the onslaught of rain Pacific Northwest winters are known for, but even the best maintained areas can get over saturated. If this is your case, try to avoid traffic (and mowing) on your extra squishy lawn until things have dried out a bit. Repair dead patches with over seeding and fill in mulch that may be getting thin or looking aged.

MULCH MANAGEMENT

Flower and shrub beds should be mulched with compost or bark dust. This will help with weed suppression, water retention, and provide nutrients to the soil.

IRRIGATION TESTING

No one likes to turn on their irrigation on in the summer only to have to adjust and fix everything in the heat, so now is a great time to check your irrigation. Get your lines pressurized and check that your nozzle heads are clear and spraying where they need to go.
